Here at Go West I strive to breed Border Collies that can work stock calmly using their inherited abilities to get the job done efficiently and smoothly. When the job is done they are able to relax in the house as part of the family.
I compete in ASCA, AHBA, MSSA, and NCA herding trials. I'm working on getting started in USBCHA trials.

Why do you let that tired old dog in your house? With hair on the couch and carpet?
Why do you keep all those old worn and torn dog collars in your tack room?
Why do you talk to your dog?
Why do you lift that old worn out dog into your pickup truck each morning?
Why did you give that old dog half your supper from your plate?
Why don't you just replace that dog? He is passed his prime.....worthless....
My answer, and the unspoken answer from a thousand lips, of men who cry, when their partner dies. The same men and women, who hide every emotion..........
"Because that old dog was once my puppy, who was trained how to work cows by another "old" dog. And he has trained many working cattle dogs in his lifetime. He saved my ass, more than once, when a cow tried to pen me against the fence, and would have sacrificed his life for mine.
You see, a dog loves man, more than man sometimes loves the dog. Except for the working dog and his master, his friend, his partner.
So, that dog is part of me, and I hope to be more like him. Loyal, faithful, and willing to give his all.
That is not a dog my friend......that is my partner. And I would no more give up on him, than he would give up on me.
Those old dog collars? They are not trophies....they are reminders, of the faithful partners, who have blessed my life."
